Brief History

The Original HoboThe Pub Hobo was born in 1974 during a deep, nation-wide recession. The founders of the Poor People’s Pub New Hampshire were unemployed contractors looking for a way to get off of unemployment and create a place to hang out in the small, sleepy village of Sanbornville.

After coming up with the Pub’s name, based on their economic circumstances, the poor people (Jimbo and Becky – the original owners), wanted a logo that would represent who and what they were; a hobo it was!

Hobo and DogSince 1974, the Hobo has been on every t-shirt, has made many personal appearances, and brought smiles to many events at the Pub. He continues to be the life of any party.

All these years later, with great pride, Block Island can enjoy the same good times and tasty Pub grub!
